Misc....Just Wandering Around

Friday April 6

After the Pinocotheque Museum, I kind of just wandered around the neighborhood.  Tried to get some shots of store windows.  Again....with all the reflections, it's impossible to make the picture look like what I see in the window.....so with that caveat......

Now these were taken inside at a large incredible sort of deli called Fauchon......where everything was all packaged up so beautifully....and very expensive.  These were trays of cheeses, all cut in little pieces just like the caterer would do.... and ready to take home.

These are pates....they were very expensive, but I'm sure they were fabulous!

Want your cured ham still on the hoof?  They just slice it right there.

This is a church that was built in the 1700's, called The Madeleine.  The building was built to look like a Roman Temple. I did go inside and it is quite impressive........so massive.  They were doing a Good Friday service and had a big cross made of flowers...I tried to get a picture...but it was quite dark in there.

I wandered down the street and came across a Sofora store.....palace, actually.  There was this wall (about three stories high) of lights...with constantly changing patterns of lights in the brightest colors...it was hypnotizing.

This is a condiment store, selling mustards, vinegar, and little pickles, since 1747.  The close-up of their window display, below........I don't know if those eggs are packaging or just window dressing.

Damn reflections................

When I took the picture of this fabulous red feather dress, the man came striding out of the store, shaking his finger and saying, "no photo, madam!"  I should go back and tell him you can't see the dress anyway, because of the reflections.

Just to prove that women are actually wearing the orange, which is all the rage.........nice coat and shoes.

You can't see it really well, but both these outfits were great.  The metalic top on the left is paired with a two-toned feather skirt.

One thing a lot of the window dressers are doing is replacing the heads of the mannequins with huge, globe-shaped flower arrangements.  I see them everywhere.

The real Chanel....not a satellite store...the actual one, with Madam Chanel's apartment upstairs, and I believe there are workrooms up there too.

And this is the famous staircase on which Madam Chanel sat, as she watched the models in her creations, as they glided down the stairs and enticed the rich and famous into making Chanel the most famous brand in the  fashion world.

      The famous pastrie shop.............

                Heavenly macaroons.............

  1. Maureen, I loved the Marc Jacob bags, and the inside of the original Chanel store. I'm learning so much. Love Kevin
